In this video, Frédéric Homs, Director of Investments at LBP AM European Private Markets, and Frédéric Lowe, ESG Expert at LBP AM, discuss with Charlotte Bouges, Head of CSR, and Justin Bignon, Co-founder of BatiBig, how the company has implemented its CSR roadmap to achieve overall performance.
In 2022, LBP AM invested in the BatiBig group, a company specialising in energy renovation and building maintenance. Founded in 2005 by Charles and Justin Bignon, the platform now brings together 64 traditional family businesses, which carry out highly technical interventions. With 1,200 employees and a turnover of over 200 million euros in 2024, BatiBig stands out for its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Charlotte Bouges, Head of CSR at BatiBig, highlights the challenges related to accident rates and recruitment that the company faces. " We constantly need manpower to carry out all the projects we are asked to do," she explains. On the environmental front, waste management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and optimising resource consumption are priorities.
This is why, since 2022, BatiBig has defined a CSR roadmap around four main commitments: integrating CSR into strategies, promoting employee fulfilment, using resources sparingly, and offering positive impact solutions. "We started by involving all our employees by training them in CSR," says Charlotte Bouges.
Beyond the involvement of its employees, BatiBig has deployed a Parsing tool to optimise its purchases and ensure the reliability of its carbon footprint. "This tool allows us to better negotiate our prices with our suppliers and to monitor purchase consumption in real-time," explains Justin Bignon. And the results are encouraging: in 2024, the company reduced its purchase rate from 17% to 15.4% of its turnover, thanks to better price negotiations and responsible consumption.
According to the manager, LBP AM's financing was crucial for achieving BatiBig's objectives. "Without this funding, we wouldn't have been able to achieve a quarter of what we have been able to achieve in 20 years," says Justin Bignon. In 20 years, the company has taken over dozens of companies, now offering remarkable financial and extra-financial performance thanks to its energy renovation initiatives.
